Property Description

14 stories, 192 rooms and suites; all suites with two-person whirlpool spas, all completely rebuilt in 1998 by the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group. With it's sensually rich decor, the Hotel Monaco-Chicago intends to pamper and seduce guests with a sense of escape to faraway places while enveloping them in sheer comfort. Award-winning designer Cheryl Rowley turns to early Deco and the works of Emil Jacques Ruhlmann, a French furniture and theatrical designer, for her inspiration. Her alluring design aesthetic is infused throughout the hotel beginning with the visually stunning grand living room with its painted woodwork in "string of pearl" detail, plush furnishings of damask and velvet, and a jeweled-tone color palate of light gold, cream, coral red, copper and rich chocolate brown. Evoking a playful sense of travel, the registration desk is modeled after a classic steamer trunk, and a cast limestone fireplace serves as a centerpiece of the lobby. Each guestroom echoes Rowley's unique vision as well with its warm colors and eclectic and highly detailed furnishings including a rich mahogany writing desk a deco cornice armoire and an oversized diamond-pattern quilted headboard in lipstick red.

Directions from O'Hare airport (ORD)-Take I-90 (Kennedy Expressway) or I-94 (Eden's Expressway) southeast into the downtown Chicago area.-Exit at the Ohio east exit and travel east on Ohio to Michigan avenue. At Michigan avenue, turn right (south).-Go( 5)five blocks, crossing the Chicago river bridge, to lake street. At Lake street, turn right (west).-Go one(1)block to Wabash avenue. Turn right(north)onto Wabash and theHotel Monaco is on the right.

I-90 west bound to the Chicago downtown area. Exit at Washington Street and travel east on Washington 12 blocks to Michigan Avenue. At Michigan turn left 2 blocks to Lake Street. At Lake turn one block to Wabash. At Wabash turn right ˝ block. Hotel Monaco is on the right between Lake Street and Wacker Place.

Take 1-290 east bound which will become the Congress parkway. Continue east to Michigan Avenue. At Michigan turn left and travel 8 block to Lake Street. At Lake turn left on block to Wabash Ave. At Wabash turn right ˝ block. Hotel Monaco is on the right between Lake and Wacker Place.

Take I-55 North to northbound Lakeshore Drive. Continue north on LakeShore Drive to Monroe Street. At Monroe turn left 2 blocks to Michigan Avenue. At Michigan turn right 4 blocks to Lake Street.
